According to the regulations and tonnage of the vessels, Stemat was not required to certify these vessels, however, safety and high standard working conditions are clearly a priority at Stemat. With these certifications Stemat claim that the company shows the rest of the world that they guarantee safe working methods and high-qualified crew onboard.
The aim of the Maritime Labour Convention is to improve the working conditions and terms of employment the crew and to prevent unfair competition in the shipping sector. The ISM Code provides an International standard for the safe management and operation of ships and for pollution prevention.
