A typical Hagglunds direct drive system with a large hydraulic motor eliminates gearboxes. The design gives simple variable speed. The arrangement is flexible and versatile, enabling customisation to suit specific applications and environmental requirements.
The work class ROV winch, manufactured by Lebus International Engineers Ltd utilises the Hagglunds 84 series direct drive hydraulic motors which support one end of the winch drum along with the DNV type approved brake assemblies.
The winches have a capacity for 3,700m of 35 mm umbilical cable and a line speed of up to 125m/min.
The order was placed to a very tight time schedule. Hagglunds was able to deliver on time with all documentation in just nine weeks following acceptance testing at their Normanton factory.
