The company also designs and supplies self-contained HPU’s and complete engine-room hydraulics packages with full wheelhouse electric proportional controls including radio-remotes, if required.
Winches can be certified by DNV, LRS, BV, ABS, GL etc., ATEX for hazardous areas and the company has recently gained ISO 9001:2008 accreditation.
Current major projects include a deck machinery and hydraulics package for the Port of London Authority’s new vessel, including a 120 tonne main winch; an 8-point mooring system with 50 tonne inverter-controlled electric winches for an accommodation barge and a containerised electric winch for Stockholm University’s research vessel, designed to hold 6500 metres of wire rope for retrieving core samples.
There are also winch packages for new-build tugs with 30-50 tonne towing and anchor handling winches
North Sea Winches is currently building a new factory extension to create more capacity. The unit will initially be used for assembly and storage, especially of the developing rental fleet, which will free up the workshops to help cope with the influx of new contracts.
