Stormline’s Crew 640 bib overalls and Crew 225 jacket range feature heavy duty ‘glove-friendly’ zippers designed to address the issue of aquaculture and fish farming workers having to remove their gloves just to grip their zips.
“We’ve worked with professionals in these sectors in Scotland, New Zealand and Australia to discover exactly what they need from their waterproof workwear and the feedback has lead us to develop a product that’s affordable and long-lasting,” said Regan McMillan, director of Stormline.
Industry feedback
Mr McMillan explained that for the new range, Stormline has invested heavily in new, highly resilient PVC that’s “sensibly priced, but highly durable.”
“Fish farmers also explained that comfort, mobility and glove-friendly zips were high priorities for them. All of our gear is designed to distribute its own weight, to eliminate wearer fatigue and ensure that the wearer is comfortable, productive and most importantly – dry, all day long,” he said.
The product range was designed after almost a year of research and development centred around feedback and insights from aquaculture and fish-farming professionals.
Safety and practicality were the key concerns raised during Stormline’s consultation with the industry. But some often overlooked problems, such as the need for a lighter weight and robust knee pads, were also addressed.
The new kit also features include high visibility detailing, hoods designed to fit over a helmet, elasticated wrists for gloves and self-weight distribution to allow the wearer a good range of motion.
