The main anchor handling winch, model GMP-1700, is a double drum waterfall type winch with a 45 ton pull capacity per drum for 700m of 44mm diameter wire rope. Each drum has hydraulic ram spooling gear and dual cylinder-operated brakes with a holding load of 90 tons per drum. Other winches on the vessel are a 10 ton tugger winch, double gypsy Lloyds classified anchor windlass and a 2 ton rope storage reel.<\/p>\n
Technical director David McLorinan, who will be on the North Sea Winches stand at Seawork, designed the hydraulic and control systems also supplied by the company.<\/p>\n
Commissioning and sea trials of the vessel were to take place during the middle of last month before the vessel was handed over to join Holyhead Towing’s expanding fleet.<\/p>\n
