The addition of the north yard of the former Cammell Laird Shipyard has greatly increased the range of docking and support services that NSL is able to offer its clients. NSL now operates extensive facilities for all sizes of vessels up to 270m by 41m on Merseyside.<\/p>\n
The new expansion has been welcomed by NSL’s clientele, which presently is mainly focused on Irish Sea ferry and offshore sectors together with MOD contracts, all of which enjoy substantial repeat business. The yard is seeing good levels of enquiries and bookings, with at least eight vessels scheduled to use the facilities in March and April.<\/p>\n
NSL and its subsidiaries are also able to support its clients requirements for port repairs throughout the UK and is presently carrying out an assisted maintenance period to RFA Black Rover at Devonport.<\/p>\n
The enhanced facilities on Merseyside will now enable NSL and its subsidiaries to further capitalise on the expertise and experience gained over the years as Cammell Laird and recently as NSL within the wider repair and conversion sectors.<\/p>\n
Welcoming the agreement, NSL managing director John Syvret said, ‘It has taken us five long years to get back into the yard, with many major hurdles overcome along the way. These years have seen us maintain the reputation of Merseyside as a centre of excellence for shiprepair, refit and conversion of both commercial and military vessels. Our objective going forward is to improve the facilities at the yard and to kick start an apprentice training programme which will provide the platform for further sustainable growth.’<\/p>\n
The yard has emphasised its emergence with the recent signing of a significant contract with Bibby Line Limited to convert their offshore construction vessel Bibby Sapphire into a dive support vessel.’<\/p>\n
