In conjunction with marine engineers Sea Boston, Andrews has carried out a complete conversion of the former offshore supply boat, both internally and on deck, to create a multi-disciplinary survey vessel capable of supporting one or more niche teams of surveyors working on quite different marine survey tasks.<\/p>\n
On board the Strilbas , Andrews has built a dedicated survey room from where multi-disciplinary tasks can be controlled simultaneously.<\/p>\n
The conversion has involved the installation of 6.5 km of new cables, advanced IP video\/data recording systems, dynamic positioning and subsea acoustic positioning plus a fully integrated computer network.<\/p>\n
On deck, heavier lifting gear including three A-frames of up to 30 tonne capacity have been added , capable of deploying large geotechnical tools, seabed crawler ROVs and diving bells.<\/p>\n
Andrews existing wide inventory of survey equipment covers hydrographic, oceanographic, environmental, geotechnical and geophysical nearshore surveys. The has already successfully completed several environmental and geotechnical contracts in the German Bight, English Channel and Belgian waters.<\/p>\n
