With an operating weight of 10 tons, the craft has a top speed of 33 knots.<\/p>\n<p>The increasingly popular Ultra Dynamics\u2019 UltraJet 305 High Thrust (HT) waterjet fitted to the Stinger is a derivative of the UltraJet 305. It has the same major installation dimensions and can be installed into a similar space envelope but it has a 10% higher static thrust than the standard UJ305 jet<\/p>\n<p>The proven manoeuvrability of the UltraJets is enhanced by the robust UltraJet hydro-mechanical control system which allows the operator directional and speed control for low speed research duties and docking manoeuvres.<\/p>\n<p>The UltraJet waterjet propulsion system delivers not only excellent manoeuvrability but also maximum safety for fish farming divers. Using waterjet propulsion ensures the workboats do not damage or rip the cages. Divers also have to inspect the cages regularly for holes which they repair. This is where waterjets have the advantage, not only from a safety consideration, but also because they have the ability to hold station.<\/p>\n<p>This vessel is the 33rd of its kind. The fully outfitted Stinger is an extremely effective purpose built craft and will do service as a research vessel transporting scientists and engineers out to a large test plant for fish farming in the middle of Norway.<\/p>\n<p>K\u00e5re Holthe &amp; S\u00f8nner AS has more than 60 years\u2019 experience in building boats for the fisheries and aquaculture markets.
