£57,150 - £63,080 per annum Plus car allowance and private medical insurance
The Port of London Authority (PLA) is the statutory harbour authority for the tidal Thames and we are seeking to appoint an experienced Marine Engineer to work in our Denton Wharf office. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven record of customer focused service delivery while having strong leadership qualities.
Applicants will be educated to degree, HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. You will need to have good communication skills and preferably have had managerial experience in work boat/small vessel repair, marine project delivery or a similar business.
Reporting to the Marine Engineering Manager, your main responsibility will be the delivery of maintenance and repair to the PLA’s fleet of twenty five powered vessels, barges and associated plant and equipment. Through a team of superintendents/supervisors, you will oversee the utilisation of the in house maintenance team as well as directing various external contractors. You will assist with marine related projects and provide operational engineering and environmental advice to other PLA departments as appropriate.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate sound theoretical and practical knowledge of marine mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and equipment, and have a good knowledge and understanding of the statutory requirements of small to medium commercial vessels less than 500GT.
