Boomeranger Boats will deliver 34 special operations RHIBs to the United Arab Emirates over the next two years.

The special operations fleet agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Defence Forces for Boomeranger’s C-95OD model is believed to be the biggest of its kind and Boomeranger has also struck a RHIB supply deal with the Indian Navy.

Managing director of Finland-based Boomeranger, Miika Tammi, said: “We have been working on these deals for six years. The contracts raise our profile to a whole new level, placing us into our own category.”

The UAE fleet will be equipped for VBSS (Visit, Board, Search and Seizure) and combat diver operations. To support these roles, each C-95OD boat will have tactical equipment including thermal imaging cameras, armour plating and helicopter transport systems.

The vessels are available in lengths of 9.5m or 10.5m and have a speed of 55-60kn and a maximum load of 2000kg.

Indian Navy deal

The agreement made with the Indian Navy includes delivery of a “significant” number of RHIBs together with a support system. Boomeranger said more information will be supplied as the project progresses.

It added that the UAE deal would not have been made without the company’s Abu Dhabi-based owner International Golden Group, “who is ready to invest in the development of the company and understands the long-term perspective of a relationship with authorities.”

Boomeranger’s Loviisa factory is currently being expanded by a third and more staff will be recruited for production and specialised tasks. Initial investment has enabled the purchase of new design tools and development of company infrastructure.
