Trelleborg launches new improved fender selection tool
Trelleborg has launched a new and improved online tool for simplified fender selection which is designed to allow specifiers to select and specify the most appropriate fender for their application.
In addition to an existing vessel berthing Energy Calculator and Fender Selection Tool, the tool’s new capabilities include a fender specification generator, bollard specification generator and a fender system selector for ship-to-ship applications.
“We are committed to customer-centric development of our products and services – and where possible, delivering this through digital innovation, as evidenced by our SmartPort platform,” said Mishra Kumar, global technical director at Trelleborg’s marine systems operation.
Mr Kumar added that Trelleborg’s dedication to digital innovation goes beyond the work its doing on site in global ports and terminals.
“We know there are huge opportunities to increase efficiencies across the sector in desk-based work too. The fender selection tool uses innovative modelling technology to reduce a task that would typically take hours of manual calculation to just a few simple clicks,” he said.
The online tool allows users to ensure fender selection meets required berthing energy specifications and has been developed in accordance with PIANC guidelines and British Standards, to ensure best in class, compliant solutions.
Users receive a number of fender system options, allowing them to further refine their inputs using different filters to arrive at the most appropriate solution.
