40 knot performance from new catamaran tour boat
Washington, USA-based boat builder Armstrong Marine’s most recent launch, the 40ft (12m) catamaran ‘Mirai’, recently ran its first passenger tour in Oahu, Hawaii.
The Honolulu-based company Hawaii Experiences contracted Armstrong Marine to build the boat. Four Evinrude outboards providing a total of 1,000 horsepower give the vessel a running speed of 47 mph (40.8 Knots).
Captain Charlie Crane, Sales and Marketing Director at Armstrong commented, “We’re known for our planing catamarans, and this high tunnel version is especially well-suited for commercial operators looking to provide a comfortable, safe, and fun experience viewing sea life and snorkeling.”
Armstrong Marine USA describes itself as a leading global provider of military, law enforcement, government, commercial, and passenger vessels. Armstrong specializes in heavy gauge welded aluminium catamarans ranging from 30 to 100 feet.
