15-metre multi-mission fireboat

The 15-metre multi-mission vessel has been named HBR 1 and is the latest model in the ProZero series of fast workboats. It has been designed and constructed according to the specific requirements of Greater Copenhagen Fire Department

Greater Copenhagen Fire Department states: ”HBR1 was acquired in order to solve a number of very specific response missions in addition to playing a general role in the daily operations. We have a range of inhabited islands in Øresund, among other Middelgrundsfortet and Drogden lighthouse where we have previously undertaken rescue and firefighting missions from open RIBs. This is not an optimal solution, particularly not in harsh weather conditions.

Several ports in our area are changing character. Today we see a very different and more recreative use of the port areas which includes establishment of houseboats, sailing with all types of boats, landing with seaplanes, events in and close to the water in addition to rapid population of the port areas.

HBR1 is a tough response vessel which can sail under all weather conditions in the waters surrounding our district. It is over 14 metres long, 3.5 metres wide, has a draft of 90cm and is propelled to a maximum speed of 29 knots (54km/h) by two Volvo Penta IPS 450 engines.

HBR1 can be accessed from both the bow and stern. The aft deck is designed to function as a diving platform and features access to the toilet facilities.

HBR1 has a crew of 2 emergency response specialists and can accommodate 10 seated passengers and 1 lying patient in the protected cabin. This means that we can transport firefighters, pre-hospital crew and e.g. police force members without first having to dress in anti-exposure immersion suits, life jackets etc.

For firefighting, HBR1 is equipped with a fixed N25 Rosenbauer pump, a fixed water cannon and storz coupling. Up to 180 metres of fire hoses are brought along in addition to a portable OTTER pump to place on land. Furthermore, HBR1 features a fixed marine radar, sonar, echosounder, VHF radio, SINE terminal, digital sea maps, AED, first aid supplies and oxygen equipment.

Our emergency response specialists are fully engaged in learning to know the new rescue vessel and we expect to be fully operational within the next month.”
