FMEL to build air cushion barge
Ferguson Marine Engineering (FMEL) has secured a contract to build what is believed to be the world’s first self-propelled air cushion barge for Mangistau ACV Solutions Ltd, part of the CMI Offshore Ltd Group.
The 55 x 24m vessel will be capable of carrying up to a 150t payload over tundra, swamps, ice and water.

The innovative team at Ferguson Marine Engineering have proven they have the skills and experience necessary to undertake building this world-first prototype barge.”

Work on the barge officially commenced on 26 October with an estimated project completion scheduled in 2019.
