Twin diesel outboard installation
Twin OXE 150 diesel outboards have racked up close to 2200hrs on the Douro River Taxi in Portugal.
With a significant reduction in fuel consumption compared to petrol outboard alternatives the Duron River Taxi saves both time and money, reduced time for refuelling and less fuel consumed.
At Cimco Marine, the company behind the OXE Diesel product range, it is said that the OXE Diesel is primarily built for those who use their engines at least 500 hours/year. This segment comprises of approximately 10% of the outboard market and has up until the introduction of OXE Diesel had few alternatives that fit their demands in regard to durability, ease of service, range and flexibility.
The engine has been developed with commercial users in mind with features such as an easily accessible water pump and strainer. Commercial users have to be able to rely on their engines in all weather conditions throughout the year and in all corners of the world. Cimco has noticed that their demands of the engines are different from pleasure craft users’ demands.
Factors like speed and horsepower are replaced with factors such as endurance reliability, power and control. Horsepower is not as important as loading capacity and low-speed manoeuvring, a necessity to operate close to heavy and expensive equipment such as fishing equipment, measuring tools or when at work close to off-shore installations such as wind turbines while fighting water currents or when performing work task in ports and harbours. Factors like long range, safety, reduced fuel consumption, and environmental and regulatory compliance become more important.
The Douro River Taxi in Portugal is cited by Cimco as a good example of the combined endurance, reliability, power and control of the OXE Diesel.
