CTV contract win
Marsun Shipyard in Thailand has won a contract to build two crew transfer vessels (CTV).
The two Inertia M3 high-speed trimaran CTVs will be built for U-Ming Marine Offshore Company Limited (UMO), a joint venture between U-Ming Marine Transport Corporation and World Marine Offshore (WMO).
“Marsun Shipyard has worked diligently to win the contract in strong competition with numerous international shipyards, and with this contract Marsun is securing a strong position as a high-quality builder for the international offshore windfarm Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) market,” said the company.
Inertia trimaran hull form
The vessels are designed by WI-ND Naval Architects based on the proven Inertia trimaran hull form, and in close collaboration with Sydney based high-speed craft experts One2three Naval Architects.
The aluminium hull features three independent and identical drivelines in three separate hulls, giving the vessel manoeuvrability, and flexibility to optimise engine running hours. Low vibrations from the waterjet propulsion also minimises noise levels.
Optimised hull features give the vessel high inertia and soft motions to provide a comfortable platform for extended periods offshore, and together with the hydraulic Softbow fender, the latest generation of Inertia trimaran hulls have proven to transfer service personnel in up to 3m significant wave height. The hull design is also prepared for hybrid installation.
The forward deck area features a large cargo deck as well as an impressive 50 cubic metre climate-controlled storage facility under deck only made possible by the form of the trimaran hull shape.
