Safehaven delivers first of 3 pilot boats to Morocco
An Interceptor 48 Pilot boat will be setting sail for Morocco as part of a contract with Boluda Tanger Med and Safehaven Marine.
Ireland-based boat builder Safehaven has delivered its first of three Interceptor 48 Pilot boats for Boluda Tanger Med since the contract was signed in 2021.
The trio will run on Caterpillar C9.3 470hp engines with electronics by Furuno.
The first of the three, VB Mouna, takes the total number of patrol boats delivered by Safehaven to 60 worldwide.
VB Mouna is 14.9m in length, and one of her unique features, says Safehaven, is a sliding platform adjustable reach pilot boarding ladder/platform, which raises the pilot up to 1.2m above deck. It is accessed from the opposing side to boarding, which means the pilot can transverse quickly and safely across the foredeck.
“The distance from the ship’s side for the boarding platform itself is adjustable in three stages and can be set to suit the sea state and likely roll of the vessel,” says Safehaven. “The adjustability allows for protrusions such as belting along a ship’s side to be taken into account.” It is also manually adjustable, and cannot be detached from the base.
She also has an Ocean 3 fender system, which is held on with straps and in sections that can be replaced individually if damaged, rather than taking off the entire fender system.
Visit Safehaven Marine at Seawork in Southampton this year, where they will be exhibiting on June 13-15.
