Custom-built dredger delivered to Baltic, North Sea
A dredger to be used for port maintenance and opertions and shore replenishment in the North and Baltic Sea areas has been delivered to Hegemann-Reiners by Dutch firm Kooiman Marine.
Trailing suction hopper dredger Hegemann V was built to specific requirements by Hegemann Reiners, including the ability to dredge quite specific amounts of sand and slick material since that has to be fitted into a prefefined size because the dredger is needed for work in restricted locations such as harbours and rivers.
“The dredger also features pre-defined operation modes to be able to run the generator diesel engines at optimal efficiency,” says Kooiman. “This results in efficient after treatment of the exhaust gases and considerably lower fuel consumption.”
She is a versatile dredger tailor made to perform the works efficient at low emissions and low fuel consumption.
The dredger’s hull was built in Serbia, then transported to the Gebr.Kooiman shipyard in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands, where Kooiman took on the outfitting.
“Kooiman came with a tailored proposal. They did it exactly as we wanted,” said Hegemann-Reiners technical manager Martin Janssen. “The dredger was already performing beyond expectations during sea trials and continues to do so in operation.
