Two Incat CTVs for US offshore wind
Windea CTV has taken delivery of two new Incat Crowther-designed crew transfer vessels.
The new 30 metre vessels, Windea Intrepid and Windea Courageous, are the largest newbuild CTVs delivered to the offshore wind industry in the US to date.
Windea CTV is joint venture owned by MidOcean Wind and Hornblower Wind servicing the rapidly growing offshore wind sector in the States.
“The delivery of these two new CTVs builds on Incat Crowther’s proven track record of designing state-of-the-art, operationally efficient and flexible CTVs for operators servicing the expanding global offshore wind industry,” said Incat Crowther’s US managing director, Grant Pecoraro.
The Windea Intrepid, built by Louisiana-based shipyard Gulf Craft, and Windea Courageous, built by St Johns Ship Building in Florida, are the first of five identical CTVs Incat Crowther is designing especially for the company.
The third and fourth vessels are under construction at St Johns Ship Building, with construction of the fifth underway at Breaux Brothers in Louisiana.
Accommodating 24 crew, the USCG Subchapter L-certified CTVs have a maximum speed of 27 knots and can transport a deadweight of 50 tonnes. Powered by four Volvo D13 marine diesel engines with a quad Volvo IPS system, each vessel can also be retrofitted with the Volvo parallel hybrid system.
Transfer capability is enhanced by the Incat Crowther resilient-bow technology which reduces impact forces applied to wind turbine boat landings.
