Hatlapa’s steering gear range has been further enlarged to meet all requirements for even the newest 13,000 TEU container ships, which have rudder torques up to 10.000 kNm.

However, Hatlapa has also been developing its range of small compact steering gears, which now start at rudder torques of only 30 kNm, ideally suited to work boats and other smaller vessel types.

All hydraulic units for Hatlapa´s steering gears are designed and manufactured in house. Thus from layout to development of different pump designs, to in house assembly and testing, the company ensures control of the entire design, engineering and production workflow, thereby ensuring total security and flexibility for after sales and service requirements. Also, as all components are in the daily workflow, rapid spare parts service is also assured.

Hatlapa’s range of vane type steering gears currently exceeds 1500 kNm. With this additional development, Hatlapa claims to be the only supplier worldwide offering all available types of steering gears to meet the requirements of all possible ship types.

Hatlapa winches are also found on all conceivable types of ships and importance has always been placed on the development of the drives, with the arrival over recent years of frequency inverter controlled AC motors. More than 1,000 winches with this motor type have now been delivered.

Hatlapa anchor and mooring winches are of modular compact design, available with differenttypes of foundations both to cater for varying shipyard requirements and to help minimise their costs by allowing alignment and installation on deck. Anchor handling and towing winches with pulls of up to 600 tons, research winches, and winches for other special purposes are developed and built exactly to customer requirements, with either low pressure hydraulic, high pressure hydraulic or electrical drives installed.

The concentration of the Norwegian and British suppliers means that Hatlapa has now become one of two manufacturers of large, hydraulic high torque, low pressure motors with system pressures of 65 bar. These drives are generally used for high capacity anchor, mooring and working winches.

Hatlapa is also well known for its two stage watercooled and three stage aircooled compressor range, which is now enhanced and enlarged with the new V-Line starting air compressors and screw type working air compressors.
