Productivity improved Hootronically at Felixstowe
Reliability, performance, maintenance and running costs have always been a concern for applications that require the traditional signalling sounds of hooters, buzzers, bells and sirens. Now, using the latest in SMD class D amplifier technology and digital to analogue conversion, the E2S Hootronic can faithfully replicate all of these sounds in one product with the reliability and performance of a modern electronic sounder.
The new E2S Hootronic from European Safety Systems Ltd has been successfully trialled at the Port of Felixstowe, where the container cranes cannot operate without a functioning warning device.
The port’s cranes used traditional electro-mechanical hooters, which have several moving parts and are prone to mechanical failure. In the trial, these hooters were replaced by the electronic Hootronic, which overcame the problem by having no moving parts, eliminating downtime and increasing productivity. The Port of Felixstowe is now enjoying the benefits of replacing failed traditional electro-mechanical hooters with the new Hootronic.
The maintenance free Hootronic is continuously rated, has low inrush current and has a very high output of up to 124dB(A) at 1m. It has a large termination area with multiple cable entries if required, generates no back EMF and can be configured with a choice of five first stage warning sounds, each with two additional remotely selectable alarm stages.
The unit is available in two formats and can be combined with Xenon, LED or filament bulb beacons for complete audio-visual signalling.
