English Nature, the statutory body responsible for advising the UK government on the designation of marine Special Areas of Conservation (marine SACs) has confirmed that it does not intend to alter the way it designates the areas, even though a study it has recently completed indicates that other countries in Europe clearly use different, less stringent criteria to do so.
