Earthrace breaks record
The Tamar is faster than its predecessor, and is the most technologically advanced lifeboat ever to be produced by the RNLI.
The futuristic bio-fuel powered ‘eco-boat’ Earthrace has smashed the world speed record for a powerboat to circumnavigate the globe by nearly 14 days. The vessel completed its 24,000 km voyage at Sagunto in Spain after 60 days, 23 hours and 49 minutes. The 24m New Zealand built tri-hull is a not for profit enterprise which aims to demonstrate and draw global attention to the potential for alternative fuel sources.
