Pharos Marine Correction

Trinity House is funded from Light Dues levied on commercial shipping in some of the busiest sea lanes in the world, at no expense to the taxpayer. The revenue provides for nearly 600 aids to navigation ranging from lighthouses, buoys and beacons to the latest satellite navigation technology.

In an article on page 51 of the February 2006 MJ concerning Pharos Marine, it was incorrectly stated that Gustav Dalen was Danish. The Nobel Prize winning physicist, who undertook pioneering work on navigation lights 100 years ago, was in fact Swedish. Aids to navigation specialist Pharos Marine celebrated the occasion with the launch of new products.
