Port of Koper Coping Better
The Slovenian Port of Koper , which receives some 2,000 ship calls per year, has installed a Transas AIS Network System procured by the Slovenian Maritime Directorate . The new system covers the whole of the Slovenian coastline and helps operators to observe the traffic situation not only within the port area but across the countrys entire territorial waters as well.
Jones, the helmsman of the RNLI Porthcawl lifeboat, braved gale force winds, rough seas and a three metre swell to rescue a fishing vessel, Gower Pride , which suffered engine failure.
