Paperless US Navy
The US Navy has unveiled plans for a major transformation in military marine navigation, with paper nautical charts to be replaced by advanced, interactive electronic navigation systems throughout the fleet. The ECDIS-N will be based on the Voyage Management System software developed by Sperry Marine operating with digital nautical charts produced by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency.
Apart from boosting first time participation and securing the return of many regulars, the move has also lifted bookings from past and new exhibitors based in the Middle East and nearby regions. This list is led by Dubai Maritime City and Dubai Drydocks, who have been joined as official supporters of the event by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.
