Port of London Authority plans Gala Centenary Concert
The Port of London Authority celebrates its centenary this year and one of the planned highlights is a very special Gala Concert in London’ s Cadogan Hall, to be held on Saturday 18 April at 7:30 PM.
Titled ‘Celebrating London and the Sea’, the programme includes Haydn’s Nelson Mass plus excerpts from HMS Pinafore and Handel’s Water Music, together with favourite songs London Pride, Old Father Thames and Rule Britannia.
The musical presentation will feature soprano Catherine Bott, along with the City of London Choir and the London Mozart Players, all conducted by Hilary Davan Wetton.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Royal National Lifeboats Institution (RNLI), in support of their important work on the River Thames and around our coasts.
The PLA has achieved Royal patronage for the event, as well as support from a number of Livery Companies of the City of London. The Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea and the Lord Mayor of London will be welcomed with a bodyguard of Watermen of the Port of London in full ceremonial dress. Preceding the concert is a champagne and canapés reception, commencing at 6:45 PM. The concert will be started by the Fanfare Trumpeters of the Royal British Legion.
Tickets are priced at £75 for the reception and an excellent seat, or £40, £30 or £20, for those who wish to attend the concert only.
