Canadian Coast Guard likes Rough Water

The new RIBs are for the Coast Guard’s Fisheries Conservation & Protection program and are being used for patrolling, surveillance, enforcement, seizure of illegal fishing gear and vessel boarding as well as assistance with other Coast Guard and federal missions such as Search & Rescue, environmental response, border security and vessel recovery. outfitted with a four man heated wheelhouse complete with two shock mitigating seats, two stowable seats, amenities for both male and female crew, navigation/communication systems, a three point lifting system and twin 175HP four stroke outboards. These

will reach speeds up to 40 knots and will be based out of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The other 11 will be the Rough Water 9.11 Wheelhouse in two different configurations. Both styles will have heat and defog capabilities, navigation/communication systems, a forward cuddy cabin with patient attendee benches and amenities to accommodate both male and female crew. Five of the Rough Water 9.11s will have an extended aft wheelhouse with shock mitigating seating for four crew while six of the vessels will have Rosborough’s standard main wheelhouse (shock mitigating seats for two and two stowable aft seats) with hydraulic hauler systems in the aft cockpit for the aid in recovering illegal lobster and crab gear. The Rough Water 9.11s will be powered with twin 225HP outboards and will reach speeds up to 45knots.

The Rough Water RIBs have made their way to the UK market with the first two, a RW 9.11 and an RW 7.90, in operation at North Queensferry in Scotland. Rosborough Boats expanded its marketing in European when it showed a Rough Water 9.11 at the Seawork exhibition in Southampton this summer.
