LNG Carrier Operations in Port course

Continuous LNG boil off during storage, paired with the means by which LNG is sold and transported means that safe and punctual shipping between ports is essential to efficient operations across the LNG chain.
Historically, LNG transportation has navigated defined routes and visited well-established ports that have the infrastructure and local expertise to ensure safe and timely delivery. However, with the rapid growth in global LNG demand in recent years, increasing quantities of LNG are being supplied to the spot market on short term contracts. The speed with which the market is growing necessitates a proactive approach to training to ensure that all parties, including those new to the industry and those getting to grips with the pace of change, not only understand their own responsibilities, but also those of colleagues and partners across the LNG chain, particularly for operations in port.
To address the increased demand for professional training specific to the LNG industry, GAC Training and Service Solutions (GTSS), a partnership between shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC and the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI), provides a two day course for industry professionals to give them a practical, in depth understanding of the procedures and technical operations of LNG transportation.
Designed and led by leading industry authority, Captain Stephen Gyi, the LNG Carrier Operations in Port course is held at the $100m NMCI in Cork, claiming to be the world’s most advanced maritime training facility. The course covers issues across the LNG spectrum, ranging from buying and selling LNG, operational safety issues, types of transportation agreements and the demands of world markets, to the practicalities of guiding, berthing and mooring procedures required in handling an LNG carrier. This course is not just delivered in the NMCI premises but in clients’ preferred locations around the globe.
