Growing demand for offshore FROG training
Following the success of the inspection and maintenance training courses delivered in 2011, Reflex Marine will be hosting a new program of courses this year.
The first week long course will run in Aberdeen starting this montjh. These training courses have been growing in popularity as more and more companies recognise that proper inspection and maintenance of their FROGs helps to maintain their working integrity over their whole field life.
The aim of the inspection and maintenance course is to supply candidates with the expertise to ensure operational integrity and safety of Reflex Marine products using correct and up to date maintenance procedures. The course is aimed at workshop mechanics, testers, and rigging and lifting inspectors for offshore operators and their service providers. On completion candidates will be issued with a certificate of competence, valid for two years.
Technicians will learn how to inspect and maintain the three, six and nine man versions of the FROG transfer device according to the recommendations set out by Reflex Marine. With a range of available modules, the course will include a review of the design background of each model, legislation, competence, critical parts inspection, checklists, best practice, a hands-on rebuild of each transfer device and a multiple choice test.
A short, half day familiarisation course is also being hosted, and is designed to give an overview of risks associated with personnel transfer, industry best practice and industry guidelines. Candidates will become proficient in the use Reflex Marine products, covering both routine and emergency use (stretcher) as well as an overview of integrity management.
Alongside this training program, Reflex Marine is in the process of establishing a worldwide network of formally accredited service centres, where technicians, certified by Reflex Marine will be able to ensure a uniformly high quality and standard of servicing. The company has already established strong working relationships with accredited service centres in Norway, UAE and Canada and is looking to expand the number of centres in 2012.
Reflex Marine is planning to run another training event, in September 2012, which will also cover the TORO transfer device.
