Thames Barrier cranes on show at Seawork
High performance Italian Pellegrini marine cranes are currently being installed to upgrade the seven original cranes on the UK Environment Agency’s Thames Barrier in London.
Chesterfield based Pellegrini UK Limited won this major prestigious contractafter years of demanding appraisal by the Environment Agency, and in the face of fierce competition. Pellegrini UK is also delivering the service contract and man-riding equipment elements of the contract.
With their enhanced lifting speeds, reach and load capacity, the Pellegrini cranes provide much improved support for essential maintenance and inspection work. The new cranes incorporate a 250kg personnel lift facility and 15 tonne maximum load capability.
Their customised design features include wireless remote control with ‘load on hook’ display technology, and special high strength lightweight materials in order to meet demanding high lift capabilities whilst conforming to strict critical pier loading requirements.
All seven new cranesare scheduled to be in place and fully operational by autumn of this year, with technical, engineering and training support provided by Pellegrini UK to ensure a smooth and efficient phasing-in period.
Details of the new cranes will be on display on the MET Marine/Pellegrini Stand A361 at Seawork 2012.
