RYA for workboats
Not just aimed at the leisure sector, the new RYA Professional Practices and Responsibilities course aims to help mariners, whether on board a workboat or private yacht, with understanding their requisite duty of care.
The course covers a range of regulatory aspects including management of commercial vessels, maintenance of safety equipment, risk control and operating procedures, legal environmental obligations and planning and situational awareness.
Available online through www.ryainteractive.org the course is now compulsory for anyone applying for their first commercial endorsement, and from the 1 June 2012 it will be a pre-requisite for anyone revalidating their existing commercial endorsement.
