Sadaret plans MB1 multibeam demos
Specialist suppliers of hydrographic systems Sadaret of the Isle of Man announced plans at Seawork for port and harbour demonstrations of Teledyne Odom Hydrographic’s new low cost MB1 shallow water multibeam echosounder.
Sadaret is now UK distributor for the product, which was introduced in the US in January. Using both amplitude and phase bottom detection, the system is capable of sounding a swathe of up to 120° in water depths down to a maximum of 100m. With 24 bit raw data and a dedicated projector, both raw water column and seabed data can be acquired via controller software. Other main features include improved time synchronisation for sensors, while there is also an option for a fully integrated GPS heading system.
Frequency operation is user selectable between 170 and 220 kHz, with the number of available beams ranging from 10 to 512. Sadaret’s Andrew Smith said a basic system is available for around £37,000-£38,000.
