New Perkins powered workboat
A new environmental workboat built by Croatias Diva Mariner d.o.o., has been powered with a pair of Perkins marine diesel engines.
The new-build Eco 1 is operating out of the oil reserve rich city of Hazara on the Turkmenistan coast of the Caspian Sea. The boat is one of seven similar vessels built by the boat builders, and is powered by a pair of Perkins M130C engines.
Spokesperson for Perkins, Dani Jerkov, commented on the installation: “Diva Mariner has previously opted to power a number of its workboats with Perkins engines, so their reputation for reliability and low cost of ownership was already well established with the boat builder. However, this latest order has confirmed that the Perkins M130C is also responsive, generates very little noise and vibration and delivers excellent performance.”
The engines allow the 12 tonne steel 12m workboat to reach a cruising speed of six knots and a maximum speed of 12 knots. The turning circle and manoeuvrability of the vessel enables it double up as a tug and undertake ecological protection barrage work.
Eco 1 was tested in Croatia and a final inspection was carried out by Bureau Veritas before its delivery to Turkmenistan.
