Moveable davits maximise deck space
There is a growing need for efficient solutions for items which make the most of deck space, such as moveable davits, on both wind farm construction vessels and offshore energy support craft.
Ned-Deck Marine’s movable hydraulic A-frame pivoting davits are, when not operating, located behind a wall under the wheelhouse. This gives two main advantages. One is keeping a clear deck space, the other is protecting the davit and fast rescue boat system from the harsh conditions the boats operate in.
By means of a track, the davit can be moved from the inside area to the outside position, immediately ready for launch and recovery of the fast rescue boat. It is moved with a hydraulic motor, operated by means of a joystick on the wired remote control.
In a dead ship situation it is still possible to move the davit from the inside by the wheelhouse to the outside operating position by means of stored power. Therefore, the davit system remains fully in compliance with the latest SOLAS regulations.
