Newbuilds for BLRT
Lithuanian shipyard, Western Baltija Shipbuilding, part of Estonias BLRT Grupp, has delivered a new fishing vessel hull to Danish company, Karstensens Skibsvaerft A/S, amongst other newbuilds.
The hull, made of steel and weighing 1080 tonnes, was built for the trawler Cattleya. The length of the trawler‘s hull is 69.9m, with a width of 14.2m, draft 4.9m, speed 16.5 knots, the maximum number of crew members is twelve.
Fjodor Berman, chairman of the board, BLRT Grupp, said: “Building hulls for fishing vessels is a part of strategic restructuring of orders from serial production of blocks to turnkey shipbuilding.”
The building of the vessel will be finalised by Karstensens Skibsværft. Construction work on the vessel began in October 2011. The specialists carried out hull construction works, installed pipelines and cable routes, the main equipment and mechanisms, and assembled modern non-standard manoeuvring systems on the vessel.
The vessel build agreement had an optional clause about another trawler hull delivery order – which has now been confirmed – it will be the fourth project between the two companies.
Other build projects on the table for th BLRT Grupp include a new fishing trawler for Gitte Henning, a dredger for Rohde Nielsen, a barge for EuroStyle, and multifunctional vessels for BLRT’s own use.
