GFS Conference is fast approaching

The third Motor Ship Gas Fuelled Ships (GFS) Conference is due to take place on 12 to 14 September 2012 in this year’s host city, Bergen, Norway.

This year's GFS Conference will take place in Bergen, Norway

The annual conference will be attended by architects, fuel suppliers, shipowners, shipbuilders, classification societies, engine manufacturers and industry organisations. This year’s GFS will feature presentations covering aspects of the maritime industry including regulatory developments, operational experiences and expectations, availability, infrastructure, technology updates, design, safety and bunkering.

The main focus however will be on the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) fuel across the sector. With stricter emissions regulations from the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), LNG fuel is becoming the most popular choice as maritime fuel due to the low cost and environmental benefits.

Some of the conferences highlights include discussions on:

· The role of LNG and the fuelling of the world wide fleet from Shell Global Solutions International BV
· Design concepts from STX Finland
· Crew training from Fjord1
· Operational experiences: Offshore vessels from Island Offshore

Delegates will also have the chance to attend technical visits to the Halhjem ferry terminal, Coast Centre Base (CCB) and Kollsnes LNG terminal and production plant.
