Fincantieri takes training to UAE
Fincantieri is helping raise awareness of the Italian marine sector through a series of training courses in the United Arab Emirates.
The past few weeks have seen Fincantieri carry out training courses for the students of the Higher Colleges of Technology and of the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research in Genova at the headquarter of its subsidiary company Centre for Naval and Maritime Field Research (CETENA).
With this, Fincantieri and the UAE hope to raise awareness of Italian excellence in the marine sector and increase the relationship with leading UAE universities that are opening up, in recent years, to the naval field.
Lectures included ‘Introduction to naval architecture’, ‘Project Management’, ‘Design’, and ‘Construction and Outfitting’. The visits involved the two sites of the integrated naval shipyard in Riva Trigoso and Muggiano. Trips to the Group’s shipyards in Monfalcone, Marghera and Sestri, and to the University of Genoa were also organised.
Fincantieri says this project will be critical in increasing the young generation’s interest in Etihad Shipbuilding, the joint venture set up in 2010 between Fincantieri and Al Fattan shipyard in Abu Dhabi.
