NeptuLink connects marine sector
France-based Microwave Vision Group (MVG) has launched its new communications product, designed specifically for the maritime industry to deliver high speed internet access to users while at sea.
NeptuLink by MVG allows maritime vessel owners to provide wireless access at 100 MB/s to everyone on board and has been designed to withstand the harsh marine environment so users have access to optimal communication regardless of humidity, sea salt and spray, rolling and pitching motion and vessel type.
The product houses a SIM card and through its two antenna transmitter-receivers, NeptuLink serves as a terminal that connects directly to distant 4G networks or UMTS, GSM where 4G is not available. Connection is achieved via LTE bands (2, 4, 5, 13, 17 and 25).
NeptuLink by MVG is the outcome of two years rigorous research in which MVG has partnered with Thales Communications & Security, Alcatel-Lucent, Déti, Telecom Bretagne along with the support of two innovation hubs, ’mages & Réseaux’ and ‘Mer Bretagne Atlantique’ (TMS project).
