Presenting port practices
In the first week of October Spain’s Escola Europea de Short Sea Shipping welcomed three groups of students to Barcelona to discover the port’s facilities and infrastructures.
Aiming to present the port’s long-standing commitment to Intermodality, the Escola presented these through a maritime visit on board of the Consolat de Mar, which was then followed by detailed explanations of the said facilities in a classroom environment.
The first group came on the 1st of October from the educational institution SEA (Sea Education Association) Semester – an American association specializing in off-campus environmental studies. On the 6th a group from the University of Bordeaux visited the port, and closing off the week a group of naval engineers from the Maritime School of Torshavn in the Faroe Islands made an educational trip to Barcelona.
The visit primarily aims to introduce the participants to the primary modal interchange hub: the port.
