Vesper releases new AIS transponder
New Zealand-based manufacturing company, Vesper Marine, has released a new Class B AIS, the XB-6000.
XB-6000 offers vessel operators convenient access to critical AIS safety information instantaneously while on the water. It includes a built-in NMEA 2000 gateway and GPS antenna that integrates AIS, GPS and NMEA instrument data.
The data displays vital safety information on any AIS-compatible chartplotter, multifunction display or personal computer.
“AIS transponders are becoming the standard for recreational and commercial vessels of all sizes,” said Jeff Robbins, CEO of Vesper Marine.
He continued: “The XB-6000 includes our unique GPS capabilities and NMEA 2000 gateway allowing on-board navigation instruments connected with either NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000 to be viewed on virtually any marine navigation device or computer software.”
In order to enhance navigation on chartplotters and MFDs, the GPS features high speed navigation at 5Hz providing smooth and accurate tracks.
XB-6000 is a compact system with all cable connections made within the footprint of the device, this hopes to eliminate protruding cable ends that are reoccurring with other black box devices. Aiming to ensure an orderly and easier to maintain installation.
It is fully waterproof and is submersible to 1m for 30 minutes, rated IPx7. The AIS transponders include the latest advances in global positioning technology, including support for international Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAD), Wide Area Augmentation Systems (WAAS) and European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS).
