Cummins Onan releases new higher powered generator
US manufacturer of diesel engines and generator sets, Cummins Inc., has released a new Onan marine US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3-certified generator.
The 55kW MDDCM, unveiled at this year’s Miami Boat Show, expands the company’s existing Tier 3-certified product line, which includes engines from 6.7 to 50l and generators from 17 to 55kW.
Brian Barnes, marketing leader for Onan Marine, part of Cummins Inc., said: “The expansion of our EPA Tier 3 marine product line-up to 55kW with the MDDCM provides our customers a higher power option in a more environmentally-friendly product than previously available from Cummins Onan.”
“This announcement is merely the first of many more exciting things marine customers can expect from Cummins,” he added.
The generator has been engineered with lower emissions and sound and vibration mitigation via the sound shield and optimised mounting system. Also available is a digital display for diagnostics such as engine and alternator information, self-diagnostics features and text display.
The MDDCM will be assembled at the Cummins Power Generation facility in Minnesota and will be available for order in late March 2016.
