Second Interceptor for Algeciras

Ireland’s Safehaven Marine has signed contracts with the Port of Algeciras in Spain to supply an Interceptor 38 pilot vessel.

Interceptor 48 'Getares Uno' was supplied in 2012

This is the second order from the Spanish Port and follows on from the delivery of an Interceptor 48 Getares Uno supplied in 2012, which has worked very efficiently and reliably for the pilots, having recorded over 10,000hrs in use at the busy port.

Safehaven says that this repeat order is testimony to the quality of its pilot vessels and the strong relationship Safehaven have established with the pilots at Algeciras over the last four years. This will be the 7th of Safehaven’s Interceptor 38 pilot class, and the 31st pilot vessel Safehaven Marine has supplied globally over the last nine years.

Powered by a pair of Volvo D9 425hp engines she will be capable of transporting 2 crew and three pilots at 24kts in comfort in all weather conditions. Other features include a ‘pusher bow’ allowing her to assist in close quarters berthing of small ships and her large and spacious forward cabin allows her to transport up to 11 passengers in total when need arises. She is due for launch late 2016.
