Liverpool investigation
Global infrastructure services firm Aecom has been appointed to manage and supervise the site investigation works for a new cruise liner terminal in Liverpool, UK.
Liverpool City Council plans to develop a new cruise terminal in Liverpool that will allow the city to accommodate more cruise ships with improved passenger handling facilities. The plan is to double the number of cruise liner visits to the city by working with operators to increase the city’s attractiveness as a visitor destination.
Aecom will deliver the site investigation which will involve a preliminary desk study, overseeing and implementing a complex river and land based geotechnical and environmental site investigation and carrying out geophysical surveys followed by a jack-up drilling rig. Aecom will work closely with the council, related technical teams and the various stakeholders involved, taking into consideration Liverpool’s busy cruise schedule.
The new cruise liner terminal will form part of a 60 hectare historic dockland site to create a world class mixed use waterfront quarter in central Liverpool.
