Acta Orion serves turbine installation

Netherlands-owned Acta Marine’s construction support vessel Acta Orion is carrying out accommodation and walk-to-work duties for Siemens on Dong Energy’s Norfolk offshore wind farm, Race Bank.

Germany-headquartered Siemens is currently installing and commissioning 91 6 MW turbines at the farm.

The workboat is being used by Siemens to accommodate up to 60 technicians carrying out commissioning and testing duties as well as performing O&M duties on the installed turbines.

Acta Orion has been involved in the project since May this year and will be occupied until mid-November.

A quarter of the total number of turbines for the farm have already been installed.

Work is due to be completed before the end of the year.

The vessel follows in the path of installation jack-up vessel Sea Installer, used in earlier work at the farm, and aims to keep up with its pace to complete the T&C scope on time.

Acta Marine has a fleet of over 40 DP Multicats, walk-to-work, crew transfer, multipurpose & survey vessels, and barges.

Operating globally, it supports clients working on coastal infrastructure and offshore energy projects.
