Smart electrical power package for offshore installation vessel
A Dutch electrical and automation expert has been awarded an electrical power package contract for an DP3 offshore installation vessel.
Bakker Sliedrecht will handle all aspects of engineering, delivery and commissioning of the delivery of the main electrical power package for the next generation Orion vessel.

With a total installed electrical power of 44,180 kW, Orion will be equipped with a high-tech crane with lifting capacity of 3,000 tonnes at more than 50 metres.
Deck space has been maximised to provide exceptionally high transport and load capacity. The vessel can take the heaviest monopiles, jackets, wind turbine components and structures in a single shipment.
With this unmatched combination of high load and lifting capacity, Orion can transport and install the next generation of giant multi-megawatt wind turbines.
The Orion will be equipped with the brand-new ABB ACS 880 liquid-cooled low voltage multi-drive system.
Upon completion, Orion will be deployed by DEME’s subsidiary GeoSea for the construction of the largest offshore windfarms and deliver offshore construction services.
The Orion will be built at COSCO Qidong in China and delivered to GeoSea in 2019.
