Europort 2017 concentrates on trio of core themes

Europort’s exhibition and conference agenda has focussed on a trio of core themes: Big Data, the Environmental Age and the Human Factor.

Europort 2017 opening ceremony

Exploration of the 2017 themes was undertaken by both current and future maritime leaders in addition to experts from other industries at the energetic opening ceremony, which set the tempo for the week ahead and gave fresh perspective on the challenges that the industry faces. Embracing change as an intrinsic factor for commercial success was a strong theme to emerge from the industry leaders speaking at the opening ceremony.

The event was kickstarted by a successful Masterclass on the Internet of Things and Blockchain on the Tuesday. Big Data was also high on the agenda with Peter Blange, former Olympic volleyball player and now Innovation manager at the Royal Dutch Football Association explaining at the event’s opening ceremony how the national women’s football team used Big Data to help win the UEFA Women’s European Championship 2017.
