Responding to recent IHO pleas for hydrographic offices to increase the resolution of bathymetric contour lines within ENCs for overall improvement of data quality, SevenCs of Hamburg has extended its range of products with introduction of an ENC Bathymetry Plotter to support producers of nautical charts in colour generation while reducing manual work.

The German software company, which claims over 20,000 users worldwide, says it can additionally support the creation of selected soundings at configurable densities and also be used to improve ENC data irrespective of the type of user production method.

The contouring process is based on a shoal-biased Nautical Elevation Model and creates contour lines with a smooth appearance that does not require any further generalisation. The system will be one of a number of latest developments to be featured by SevenCs at a one-day company workshop in Rostock-Warnemunde on 7 November ahead of the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies’ 24th three-day symposium, Hydro 2016.
