Vessel operators sign up for Hefring’s IMAS system
Seawork exhibitor Hefring Marine has recently announced two partnerships with operators using the Icelandic company’s AI-driven technology.
The IMAS (Intelligent Marine Assistance System) is the brainchild of the company, an on-board system that collects and analyses vessel data for live on-board decision support, optimising speed, route and direction and providing operators with information on their entire fleet.
IMAS solution uses an on-board computer and sensors to monitor, collect and process data on motions, impacts, engines, navigation and other available systems.
It can make real-time predictions and deliver condition-adaptive decision support, optimizing speed for impact and vibration minimization, fuel use and range maximization.
All collected and processed data can be stored on board or transferred in real time for storage and active monitoring to the IMAS Console, which provides a range of tools for performance visualization, reporting and in-depth analysis.
SAFE Boats International, an American employee-owned firm that designs and builds vessels for military, law enforcement and fire professionals, has more than 2,500 boats in service worldwide.
It has formed a partnership with Hefring Marine after carrying out more than 1,000 nautical miles of data recorded through IMAS in various trials and demonstrations on the SAFE 35 Multi-Mission Interceptor.
“Working with Hefring Marine allows us to provide our customers with a unique set of tools to help improve the welfare and safety of their crew and to generate richer insights into the use and efficiency of their vessels,” said SAFE Boats CEO Richard Schwarz.
The partnership with SAFE Boats inspired another deal with Isle of Wight vessel builder Diverse Marine, also a Seawork exhibitor, which signed with Hefring on May 1.
“After discussions in both the UK and the USA, we shaped the system to meet Diverse Marine’s specific needs for the offshore wind crew transfer vessel sector,” said director Ben Colman. “The software adapted to this new configuration effortlessly. Additionally, we managed to incorporate turbine approach impacts. With data now accessible on the shoreside dashboard, our technical and operational teams receive invaluable insights.”
Other partnerships with Hefring include Archipelago Yachts, the Italian Coast Guard and the Icelandic Search and Rescue Team.
