The expansion plans cover 330,000m² of land, which will be dredged from a depth of 8m to 11m, while 600m of new quay will also be added.

“We’re tremendously pleased that, finally, we can now make our plans public and thus definitely state that a port expansion is a reality,” said Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen, managing director, Port of Frederikshavn.

It has been a long process, but we feel that, finally, we have achieved our goal with just the right project, at the right price; and we look forward to collaborate with Per Aarsleff A/S,” he added.

The work on regulatory processing will begin immediately, with Per Aarsleff A/S expecting construction work to begin in spring 2016.

The new port areas are set to be completed by spring 2018.
